Tentative Thesis Unit 1
Even though many people think that troubled youth won't succeed or change after they join gangs, I believe that youth join gangs for many different reasons, our methods of authority push those youth to gangs, they turn to gangs to find comfort and acceptance and they are able to change by being involved in programs not isolated like the system does it.

ReplyDeleteAre you trying to say that you believe the opposite of this? Do you believe they can change? Using the term "even though" at the beginning is a good idea, but it leads me to believe you'll tell me an opposite idea-- which is your argument. Some other questions I have are: If you believe they can change, why do you think they can? What do you believe is needed in order for them to change? You can focus on explainin WHY they join gangs as part of your development, but isn't your true POINT the idea that with certain resources, opportunities and/or support systems, young people, especially those involved in gangs, can change? Answer these questions to help you focus your thesis more.
